Research focus

The research activities of our department focus on the development of advanced materials for extreme environments. We design materials for demanding fields such as nuclear fusion, energy, aerospace, and the automotive industry. Our work includes both fundamental research aimed at understanding the microstructure and properties of the developed materials, and applied research that leads to specific technical solutions for practical use. We are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for producing functional or protective surface coatings using various thermal spraying techniques, as well as tools for their comprehensive analysis. We are also engaged in powder material sintering and processing, as well as repair and additive manufacturing of components (3D printing). We collaborate with numerous academic and industrial partners in the Czech Republic and abroad. We offer joint development projects, testing services, and the design of material systems. We believe that linking science and practice is the key to innovations with real-world impact.
