This year's prize for popularization was presented at the opening ceremony of the Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Dr. Slavomír Entler from IPP (Section of Fusion Plasma) received it from the President of the CAS Eva Zažímalová.
His domain is popularization of nuclear fusion. His online lectures are very successful. One of the biggest audiences is a lecture from last year's edition of the Week of the CAS, which was entitled Fusion Power Plants – the current state of development (more than 227 thousand views).
Slavomír Entler also participated in the realization of the unique COMPASS-U tokamak model for
the exhibition of the CAS at EXPO 2020 and he created virtual tours and LEGO model for the tokamak.
He devotes himself to popularization activities beyond his normal scientific work – he deals with
the development of magnetic field sensors for fusion reactors and gives courses at the Faculty of
Nuclear and Physical Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical
University.
