A Memorandum of Understanding in the field of fusion research has been concluded between the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IPP CAS) and the Korea Institute of Fusion Energy (KFE).
KFE is a leading research institute in Korea focused on fusion energy research, known for
operating the KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) facility, one of the world’s
first tokamaks with fully superconducting magnets.
This Memorandum provides a framework for cooperation in fusion science and technology, tokamak
physics and coordinated experiments between KSTAR and COMPASS-U, tokamak operation, and digital
engineering and data solutions in fusion energy research. Through this partnership, we extend our
recent collaborative activities and reaffirm our commitment to work together on joint research
initiatives, knowledge exchange, and collaborative projects aimed at contributing to the global
effort to develop fusion as a sustainable energy source.
