Installation of sensors developed at IPP on the ITER international fusion reactor

The installation of a second set of Hall magnetic field sensors, developed at the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, has been successfully completed on the ITER thermonuclear reactor.

These sensors, featuring an antimony-based sensitive layer, are designed to operate under high temperatures and intense neutron radiation. Their development is a result of a broad collaboration involving experts from IPP of the CAS, the ITER Organization, the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, ELCREAM a.s., HVM Plasma s.r.o., MIFRE ENERGY s.r.o., the Research Center Řež s.r.o., and the Institute of Physics of the CAS, with support from the AV21 Strategy programme.
