On Monday April 14, 2025, the Department of Materials Engineering inaugurated the new Cold Spray Prague laboratory on the Na Slovance campus.
Established with the support of Helmut-Schmidt University in Hamburg, Germany, the laboratory
is equipped with a high-pressure cold kinetic spray (CS) unit for depositing metal coatings and 3D
printing of bulks (cold spray additive manufacturing, CSAM). The team led by Jan Cizek will focus
on fundamental research of CS materials, exploring their unique microstructures and properties, and
development of practical applications of the method in collaboration with industrial
partners.
