IPP won the TA CR 2022 award for its participation in the National Centre of Competence for Materials, Advanced Technologies, Coating and their Applications (NCK MATCA for short).
The NCK MATCA project became the winner of the TA CR award competition in the PARTNERSHIP category. Within NCK MATCA, IPP is the main driver of one subproject called “Plasma Gasification of Hazardous Waste”. The aim of this sub-project is to compare different methods of plasma gasification and their ability to transform different types of waste into reusable gas consisting mainly of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. We tested two different technologies of thermal plasma generation: a water-stabilized plasma torch and a microwave plasma torch. The kinds of waste tested in this subproject included: polypropylene, a solid alternative fuel, sewage sludge, pyrolysis oil from tyre pyrolysis and hospital waste.
